Bowthorpe Single Column Polymeric Surge Arrester (PCA Range)

Bowthorpe EMP pioneered the development of the polymeric composite housed surge arrester in the early 1980's and since 1986 has a proven service experience across the globe, operating in the world's toughest environments. Bowthorpe surge arresters provide active over-voltage protection that contributes directly to improved reliability of your system, reducing system outages and protecting expensive terminal equipment.

Bowthorpe "PCA" silicone surge arresters have been designed and tested to meet our customers demands with reliability and offering optimum operational performance.

The Bowthorpe EMP arrester is made possible by:

  Proven moisture sealing technology.
  Non-tracking insulating silicone materials.
Fully integrated single piece and void less design.
  Safe mode of failure.
  Quality.

The PCA series arrester is designed to perform in the toughest environmental conditions and to meet and exceed the requirements of IEC60099-4. Our gapless zinc oxide polymeric arresters have been in service since 1986 and now the PCA range builds on that experience and know how. The PCA development has been based on 30 years of internal experience in arrester design and manufacture within the Tyco Electronics Energy Division. The PCA qualification was performed in internationally recognised and independent laboratory facilities in Europe.

Application

Protection of HV networks and equipment from lightning and switching surge related over-voltages. Designed and optimised for outdoor use to protect HV switch gear, transformers and cable end terminations.
