Tetra is a new monitor for up to 4 gases. It is a full specification
multigas monitor designed to compete in the ‘compliance’
sector of the market place for portable gas detection products, yet
not compromise on quality, reliability and robustness. It is a compact
lightweight unit, yet very rugged, and yet meets a full IP65 ingress
protection rating. It is manufactured from tough plastic, over moulded
with rubber for added protection.
Tetra is intended for use for confined
space entry testing, for personal safety monitoring and for hot work
applications. Like other Crowcon products it will frequently be used
within hazardous areas, and so is certified to the latest ATEX requirements
(for Europe) ATEX II 2G EEx iad IIC T4, and to UL and CSA standards
(for North America) for Class 1 Division I Groups ABCD.
The internal software of Tetra has
uniquely been written and designed to meet the requirements of IEC 61508-3:1998
(Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety Related Systems – Part 3:
Software Requirements). Tetra meets a SIL 2 rating for this. We know
of no other portable gas detector on the market which has been designed
to meet this. It is a guarantee of quality and reliability.

Crowcon
tetra - 4 gas personal monitor
Tetra accommodates
a full range of pellistor and electrochemical sensor ‘i-modules’
intelligent digital sensor modules which are supplied pre-calibrated
and are fully interchangeable. There are no pre-determined gas sensor
positions. The sensors communicate digitally with a central processor,
and this in turn can communicate digitally with external devices over
an IR comms link. This means that the instrument functionality (i.e.
the combination of gases) can easily be changed. The digital internal
comms also ensures excellent RFI rejection. Tetra can utilise any of
the electrochemical sensors including the ‘biased’ type
sensors for gases such as HCl, ETO and NO.
