| Tetra is
especially easy to use. A single button provides all the control functions
such as switch on, switch off, alarm reset, and access to a small functional
menu which provides for peak and TWA (8 hour) This one button operation
process has been market tested in Custodian CDL and has been proven
to be popular. Tetra gives an audible confidence beep every 10 seconds,
and flashes ‘OK’ in normal operation on the screen at the
same time. In the event of a change of status from ‘OK’
a warning symbol replaces the OK. The display provides pop up screen
warning messages for operational status other than normal.
Tetra is designed to have the most
effective alarms on the market place featuring the following:
A unique blue/red flashing LED visual alarm. Blue flashing LEDS
are far brighter than any other colour, and we have chosen a blue/red
combination, as some standards require a red indicator for gas concentration
alarms.
The alarm sounder has a high output and a range of selectable
tones, which allow allocation of preferred or differing tones to the
different alarm levels.
Tetra features
a built in vibrating alarm as standard.
Tetra features full simultaneous display,
showing gas concentration with gas name and units for each channel in
normal operation. In alarm condition the main audible/visual and vibrating
alarms are activated and the display shows the highest current alarm
level. The alarm LEDs are on the top of the unit to be fully visible
at all times. The display gives comprehensive indication of gas concentrations
and any relevant alarm or status information, and is fully backlit.
Battery status is continuously displayed with a symbol showing up to
six bars representing remaining life and providing a low battery alarm.

Tetra has an integral belt mounting
clip and can be used with a typical range of optional accessories for
wearing and carrying – a universal harness clip allows the use
of a shoulder strap or chest harness, and an optional carry case is
available.
Tetra can be used for diffusion sampling,
for active sampling using a manual aspirator, for active sampling using
an optional built in electric sampling pump. For both pumped sampling
and aspirator sampling a simple clip on plate is used with either just
a sampling line or an aspirator kit as appropriate. Standard Crowcon
sampling accessories such as probes, water traps etc are suitable for
use with this product. Pumped units give a clear indication of pump
operation on the display as well as indication of flow fail in case
of pump stall or blockage.
Tetra is available as either a rechargeable
unit utilising a lithium-ion battery or a non-rechargeable version utilising
3xAA alkaline batteries. The non-rechargeable version has a slightly
taller outer case to accommodate the batteries. The rechargeable version
has a built in charger circuit requiring an external power supply. This
is a custom supply with some additional built in protection components
necessary to ensure the integrity of the safety components within the
product. The supplies are available either as a wall socket plug for
UK, European and USA type outlets or as an in line supply with flying
leads for places where these are not used. Operating life for the rechargeable
units on a full charge is more than 12 hours and for alkaline batteries
more than 18 hours.
Tetra features Event Logging, i.e.
rather than just filling up a data file with minute-by-minute data records,
data is written to memory when something significant happens e.g. an
alarm threshold is crossed. This means where an instrument needs to
be interrogated following an incident the relevant data is quickly and
immediately available, and is not obscured by large quantities of meaningless
timed data.
