| A new Furse ESP protector for computer
networks is now available. The ESP Net-100 provides effective protection
to equipment on 10 or 100 base T Ethernet, Token Ring and other networks
with RJ45 connections, and is suitable for use on systems which signal
on up to 8 wires of either unshielded or shielded twisted pair cable.
The ESP Net-100 reduces 5,000V transients to just
25V line to line and 600V line to earth, both comfortably below equipment
suceptibility levels (5k, 10/700µs test to BS 6651:1992 Appendix
C, Category C-High and CCITT IX K17).
An ESP Net-100 should be installed on all copper cables
which run external to the building, either at the network hub or close
to the computer, server, transceiver or repeater it is to protect.

Network cables are simply plugged into the ESP Net-100's
RJ45's sockets and a connection made to earth.
THe ESP Net-100 provides effective protection without
impairing the systems normal operation. It does not contain the high
capacitance components found in other devices, which cause signal degradation
during start up. Plus the new ESP Net-100's low in-line resistance (1ohm
per line) minimises reductions in signal strength.
The bandwidth, attenuation, voltage standing wave
ratio (VSWR) and near end cross talk (NEXT) of the ESP Net-100 all exceed
the requirements of all relevant systems specifications and standards.
