There is no need to know where mercury is before measuring as the MVI finds the contamination and measures it quickly and accurately. The instrument also provides a highly accurate measurement - (other monitors may only be accurate to plus or minus 20%)!
The measurement provided is very fast - almost instantaneous. Other monitors may require up to 1 minute to get a reading! The MVI is not just a "Spot Checker" - it gives continuous readings.
